Skywalkers show grit!

Carrot catastrophe and spinach sorrow...

Skywalkers were disappointed to find that over the Easter break our raised bed had been savaged by an unknown animal who dug up (and ate) our freshly planted carrot and spinach seedlings. However, we were not to be put off by this disappointment, and have spent this morning replanting the missing veg.
Maya with the seeds!

We have added a net over our raised bed for added security.  Fingers crossed take 2 is more successful...

Soil Delivery for Garden Project

This week, we had a delivery of compost  from the Tower Hamlets Cemetery and Nature Reserve Park in Mile End who provided free soil for our allotment project. Many thanks to all the year 7s that helped transfer the soil into the raised beds. We are nearly ready to start dividing up the plots and then they can be allocated to coaching groups. If you are interested in doing more gardening, then come during Monday lunchtime. More details via Twitter at: #s21year7

Mosaic's cad day

M O S A I C ’S CAD DAY

On the 3rd of March The Mosaics had a spectacular day! To start off with we were in assigned teams. The teams were: Catering team, design team, research team and the logo team. At first we were all worried about the teams but eventually we got along very well.

Miss Uddin set us a challenge to record an one minute to highlight the day and also to show our identity as coaching group. Here is what we produce.

Now it was time for action!
The aim of Tasnia’s group, which consisted of her and Steven, Shakirah and Andre L was to find cardboard to create a 3D logo for one of our boards in our coaching room which said ‘MOSAIC’. (which you will see in the video). We used cardboard, plastic cups and a glue gun to create this beautiful model.

The aim for Milca & Jahsiah’s team was to choose what meals we would all have. For example the starter, the main course, dessert, drinks and so on. We discussed and chose what meals the guests should eat. We thought to go with different things that the other coaching groups wouldn't normally choose to make, so that's why we decided to go ahead and do something different.

The aim for Aman was too see whether the food and Milca & Jahsiah picked we suitable for this time of the year. But soon both teams joined and discussed what sort of foods. Then did a mood map. After we sorted everything we made we did some research on ingredients we could grow for Spring.

The food we thought of were delicious but crazy but they will be kept a secret until the day!

The design team's aim was to help design the sign for our raised bed. They also help paint signs for all the other coaching groups, they assisted Mr Hoeben's group on this.

As you can see it was a very tough day but it was also fun. When it returned from break time we were all exhausted but when we came back to class we played a game called Accent war. We did different accents as African, American and Chinese. It was very funny and let us take a break from just work.

At the end of the day we produced some amazing, brilliant models and pieces of beautiful work. It was all worth working for in the end.

Thank to Miss Uddin for a great day.
